The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range in northwest Africa extending about 2,400 km through Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.
The Atlas ranges separate the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines from the Sahara Desert. The mountains are divided into ranges,
including the Middle Atlas, High Atlas and Anti-Atlas. Tell Atlas running near the coast and the Saharan Atlas running further south
terminate in the Aures Mountains located in Tunisia and Algeria. The northernmost area of Morocco belongs to the Rif Mountains,
which is not a part of the Atlas Mountains. The highest peak from the Atlas Mountains is Jbel Toubkal, 4,167 m
in southwestern Morocco and the second highest mountain is the M'Goun, 4071 m.
